After making an assessment of the signatures that had been gathered on behalf of the Bickel For Sheriff Campaign, I notified the Board of Elections that we would not be submitting a petition to place me on the ballot in November. I felt that there was not a sufficient number of signatures that would sustain a challenge.

I want to thank all of you VERY much for your support and the effort you put forth to get us on the ballot. You did an outstanding job. It was me, and me alone, who fell short and for that you have my humble apology.

I met some wonderful people during this effort and made some new friends. For that I will be forever grateful.

For those of you who made monetary contributions to our campaign effort, you will get a full refund. Those checks should come to you within a week or so. And for all of you who contributed your time, I wish there was some way I could repay you. For now, I will remain in your debt.
